I'm interested in how the graph data was derived.

I understand the short lis. I understand the daily volume and the cummulative shorts but the others ?

Out of interest the dark pools do not offer the protection of the ASX so there is massive counterparty risk.

The large changes in short positions without suffecient trade on the market in that day could be
- slack reporting and no penalty
- closing of derative products like CFD's. CFD providers pool stock for broker lodgement and hedge internally.
- aftermarket trades , reported in next days trading.
- A holder having both long and short positions in seperate sub accounts and then choosing to close them out. This can be done by matching or off market transfer.

There should be better rules surrounding stock borrowing and reporting. I have seen other stocks where a large stock borrowing exists but no short reporting existed. Why would someone borrow stock and then not be short? Only explaination was that they were waiting for CGT 1 year trigger but didn't want exposure or a div stripping by a international shareholder ?

The only way to ensure you have full picture of shorts would be to get registry holding report daily and full disclosure withing nominee companies or underlying holder.

Any info on your graphs and exactly how the data is calculated much appreciated.

PS I have no idea what direction MSB is headed - market look horrible for stocks like it at the moment but on the other side it's technology isn't about to evaporate either. Trying to get a good value is the hard bit.
