Siumut: The turmoil will not subside. Although the chairman of Siumut, Erik (W.L.) Jensen, has repeatedly said that the party stands strong and solid, the internal criticism will never end. Now a loyal front-runner is joining the ranks of the critics, namely municipal councillor in Sermersooq Municipality, Peter Davidsen. He is not just anyone in Siumut. He is a municipal councillor and is responsible for the party's regional board in Sermersooq, a former member of the executive committee of the parent party, and a staunch champion of the party's leadership headed by Erik Jensen. But there are indications that Erik Jensen and the party's executive committee are losing their loyal supporters now that Peter Davidsen is also publicly showing his dissatisfaction with the party's leadership: "If Siumut's elected representatives and members are not to be left in uncertainty, the chairman, with the support of the executive committee, must make a clear statement about how Siumut will move forward as a united party, about how the joint boards and local chapters, as well as our members, will move forward together," Peter Davidsen points out in his open letter. He refers to the growing criticism and claim that the party has now become a puppet that conducts day-to-day politics while prominent members of Siumut leave the party. Davidsen points out that he is well aware that local chapters have a duty to ask the right questions about how to rectify the situation. "It is disturbing that Siumut is reluctant to speak out about the big issues – what do we want? He criticizes the chairman of the party and the executive committee for being too passive and tacit:- Siumut works to ensure that people develop freely and in cooperation, and to spread this way of thinking so that it is widely accepted. And this obliges the chairman, on behalf of the party, to clearly state objectives in the major issues, so that the population can follow and be informed! He cites as an example the spiral case and the process of the fisheries law, which lack clear statements from the parent party.
