In the Ado presentation today. JSR was mentioned under bead manufacters. Below is a link to a patent by JSR for an improved magnetic particle. They are also looking for better organic binders (mentioned in the first few pages).

I remember reading that the Japanese patent for mixand go had moved quicker than expected. Perhaps this is a link someone with more expertise than I in these matters may wish to explore further.
