hbunton,
just to correct a couple of things on the local political angle:
"next election the libs and labor will be well rid of the Greens"
Maybe in the lower house.
In the lower house, they only have 1 representative who shares the balance of power with other independents.
In the senate, they hold the clear balance of power. And Senate terms are 6 years, with half of them up for election each 3 years.
Seeing as the Greens have just added 4 (i think) new senators, and the others are pretty secure in their seats (Brown, Milne), they look like holding balance of power for some time.
For better or worse, the greens will be part of the political landscape for the next 6 years or so.
"Libs get in..."hello Momma!!"
On the contrary, if the Libs get in power at next election, i don't believe they will be able to govern due to the senate conditions, and the worsening relationship with the Greens.
LYC's progress is not under threat, nor being strangled because of the party in power, in this country anyway.
Let's hope it doesn't get affected by the minor parties and single issue independents!!!
