The average life span of a higher animal species is around 2 million years. Homo sapiens have only been about 300,000 years so what we are seeing now is no more than silly and immature human cultures full of wacky ideas and behaviour.
It's the matured and cultured million years to come that might be so predictable and boring that could spark mass extinction events.
