I think the simplest thing is to have a federal Independent Commission against Corruption. Because you're never going to get rid of the major parties. And the biggest problem is conflict of interest and corruption, which means they don't make decisions in the best interests of the people.
Just look at the Chevron gas situation. Australia is the biggest gas exporter in the WORLD yet we have the highest energy prices in the world!
That's not simple incompetence. That's got to involve corruption. And that's just ONE issue. Then there's housing policy. etcetc etc.
