Not so sure that Huntleys or other brokers are as bad as their recommendations would suggest them to be...I think they generally are on to movers very early on, and then start recommending them when they believe that the price has more or less topped, thereby creating the conditions for them to offload shares for their larger more preferred clients. Occasionally brokerage houses will give a genuine recommendation to keep some semblance of credibility

As for journalists, they tend to be nothing more than a tool for brokerage houses to spread whatever message they want to portray.

Never believe what you read, and only half of what you see.

Observing the market trends diligently, some knowledge of charting, and reading ASX company announcements (and understanding them) should be all the information one needs.
