The trouble with Os maintenance is that some workers will never actually fly on the planes they maintain and can therefore be shoddy at times....i've seen this first hand.
The beauty of local maintenance was that employees and their FAMILIES would be flying on the Ac they were maintaining so no thought of cutting corners like they do (in some instances) OS.
But heh Os maintenance is definately less costly but the extra safety margin (that costs $$$$) that "the QAntas family" built in to the AC maintenance system has slowly disappeared with QF just another airline now so take your'e pick.
