News Limited 'not a target' in media inquiry

MEDIA inquiry chief Ron Finkelstein says his review will look at the "style and content" of some reporting, but denies the move is linked with demands by Labor left convenor Doug Cameron for the inquiry to examine News Limited, publisher of The Australian.
The factional firebrand reacted furiously to a front-page report in Sydney's The Daily Telegraph of further leadership instability in the government yesterday, slamming the story as "absolute lies".
"It's my view -- and I'm going to take it up in the next caucus -- that we should widen the inquiry into the press in this country and make sure that we put a forensic analysis on the behaviour of the Murdoch press and the threat to democracy they are," Senator Cameron said.
