IVZ can request the second level broker data, ascertain who is responsible for the fake sell orders and then really do nothing. If it’s a Chinese or Russian trading house they aren’t going to give a damn about IVZ and will ignore any communication from the ASX. Maybe they pull the orders for a couple of weeks then come back and have another go. The laws need to be changed to force real, significant outcomes for these companies and individuals but there’s too much money being made off it in fees so no one will take action. They will never ban short selling, they will never stop market manipulation. As long as the big end of town are cashing in, the govt won’t do anything. And in the end the biggest gainer from all this is probably the federal govt from taxes on income being made by the ASX.

Australia is the third largest exporter of fossil fuels globally. That doesn’t count towards their net zero target though. The govt just doesn’t care.
