niloony, all kids are different. Our daughter needed one small tap at about 18 months. Then she accepted that "no" meant "no". The next one (a boy) pushed the boundaries a lot more.
He's fifteen now. He complained to me the other day that the trouble is that I don't remember being a teenager. I answered that I certainly do remember - but I was a different teen to that which he is.
I hope you never have to smack your kids - but also that you will if you recognise the need.
