roiboi, I don't think your view will be the case. We all know the issue of shale has been the subject of prolonged, and both sides aired, dialogue.

We all know the governments views on the benefits to the whole country that shale will/may provide, so with that in mind I believe the LCC will be the local government body who will make the final decision.

Of course there may be some members of the council who might view it as all too hard to make the right decision, and hope for the soft option, but I would suggest there are some very well informed, strategically minded people who are excited with being charged with being the first council to set the U.K. on self independence on the topic of home grown energy independence.

We are all going to know the course of action in a few weeks time.
