Well, Christians can call their so called prophecy anything they like, including brilliant. So let's accept that the quote you provided is true, that Biblical prophecy is both true and comes via men moved by the Holy Spirit.

Firstly, in what way is it true, literally or symbolically, or both?

And Secondly, these prophecies are never straight forward. They are bound up in challenging inferences, symbols and images, so if men were moved by the Holy Spirit to produce these veiled truths, then it stands to reason that to interpret these prophecies requires the individual to be moved by the Holy Spirit to understand them. This is shown to be true by the endless versions of meaning attributed to prophecy. Every religion has their own version of meaning, all the way up to some who dare to claim that they will ruling with G.d no less.

Thirdly, as the vast majority of Christians are trained to follow and not think for themselves, Christians go off to find some nice preacher, minister, evangelist who has no more Biblical insight than the village idiot and they plonk themselves down and they believe their little hearts out, everything these talking heads tell them, so that from one persons stupidity comes a whole tribe of stupids.

So while I agree with you, the prophecy is only a tiny fraction of the big picture, the other 90% is the individual cleaning themselves out of preconception, the need to follow without question and prejudice and try to approach prophecy and the Bible in general with a truly open mind and that's when something brilliant might happen.
