I came across some info regarding the reserves at Gippsland Basin, and think it is worth sharing:
The oil and gas fields at Gippsland Basin have been providing resources for decades now, and have plenty of infrastructure present to continue extraction if new reserves were discovered. A large number of oil/gas pipelines exist, as well as plenty of rigs and platforms as indicated on the map below. The vast majority of reserves are currently in production already with major players like ExxonMobil, BHP etc.
Having been in production for years, there is no doubt that the big players will always be looking out for further acquisitions to continue the production in the Gippsland Basin. As evident below, Judith remains one of the last untouched major gas reserves in the region.
With a massive 1.8 tcf estimated reserve at Judith (and likely will be upgraded with the Independent Resource Statement due), it is a no brainer that the big players will be keeping a close watch on the Independent Resource Statement coming soon.
Some may know about the Kipper-Tuna-Turrum project that has been established a few years ago. With the shallow waters of Judith, it wouldn't be difficult to lay pipelines and connect to a nearby structure.
The Independent Resource Statement is due, and following from this there will be a steady flow of catalysts in the coming weeks:
- Resource valuation by a major finance organisation
- Partnership/JV negotiations for delivery and off-take agreements (I predict we will see news of discussions with ExxonMobil and/or BHP soon)
EMP has a market cap of $3mil. Current and forecasted natural gas prices will likely continue to increase due to the limiting supply and increasing demand, both internationally and domestically (and especially for the state of Victoria).
All in my professional opinion here, but low downside risk and a huge calculated upside potential. Oil and gas is booming as those that keep up with the news will know. Happy to hear other opinions on how Judith may play out.
