"First thing to note - the original post here cannot be right. It is not in Gillard's nature to go quietly. She won't be gone quietly by Wednesday. It would take a coup, challenge or spill."

    ---------------------

What I mean by this is best illustrated by an Aesop Fable. Gillard has said herself that "this woman is not for turning". I believe her. Her nature is one of extreme stubbornness and inflexibility, illustrated by the fable of the Scorpion and the Frog:

    ......................................

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The
frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion
says, "Because if I do, I will die too."

The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"

Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..."

    ...........................................

It's in Gillard's nature to tough things out, whatever the consequences. Anyone who has studied psychology recognises the signs. She won't relent, stand down or compromise over the leadership. It's her nature.
