IMO Assange's main conflict is with obscene administrative machinations that resulted in Iraq being invaded under the pretext of stockpiling "weapons of mass destruction".
As well as the covering up of casual slaughter by the US military, as exemplified by the helicopter incident that Wikileaks exposed.
Assange isn't releasing anything on China (or Russia, or Kazakasthan or Chechnia) because he currently has secured nothing from these countries to release.
But dictators everywhere can one day expect their dirty laundry to be fluttering from a global washing line.
However they will certainly NOT be fatally injured by revelations for their absolute power affords them the deniability that democracies (who are accountable to their people) lack.
They will merely denounce the stuff as fabrications and serve tea with polonium to anyone within their camp who might be willing to testify against them.
Embarrassment alone cannot dislodge these leeches.
