julia's political point scoring dangers

Gillard knew Abbott had his own Afghanistan trip planned when she blabbed to the ABC about having invited Abbott to see "her" soldiers, and then said he "didn't want to go". ("Her" soldiers?? Smacks of Elizabeth 1st Queenship!)
I thought they were Australian soldiers - not her private army.

How come she blabbed all this detail anyway to the ABC Labor friends, about something so highly secret and security senstive? They then asked Abbott the question - why wasn't he going with her - and he gave his jetlag reply on the run as he could not reveal that he was planning his own trip, as any such public revelation is absolutely forbidden. Not even family or friends are told, and family only find out at the very last minute.

Gillard has committed a major and deplorable faux pas in advertising the fact that Abbott had his own trip planned for the near future. And she knew it all along! For all we know he may have intended calling in on his way back from the UK - makes sense. As Julie Bishop said today, he would not want to see the troops with Gillard and a Labor Party entourage in tow, as he has his own ideas on
how the troops should be supported. Yes he should not mentioned jet-lag as an excuse, which sounds flippant if you don't know the security protocols, which he of course did not mean, but NO WAY could he tell the real truth (which Gillard already KNEW when she invited him!) and that was to reveal the fact that he already had his own visit planned. Knowing this, she then knew he'd refuse her offer.

For all we know Gillard squeezed in her visit when she did just to point score by getting in ahead of him. That's her usual modus operandi. He may well have intended visiting the troops coming back from Britain, a visit which he would now have to cancel. He could in no way mention this even if it was the case.

Worse, Gillard has now put Abbott's life, and those of all the troops, in danger, by committing the security no-no of advertising the fact that he's going AT ALL!

The Taliban are now alerted to the fact, and by playing her sleazy little game she has placed a lot of lives at risk.

Through her continuous games playing, and one-uomanshp determination, she has now seriously breached national security, and has put a lot of soldiers' lives at risk, plus those of Abbott and his entoruage, WHENEVER they go.

Seems Gillard is determined to malign and belittle Abbott at every opportunity. In fact, Andrew Bolt told listeners yesterday that when he worked for the Labor Party years ago, past of his job was to put out memos to Labor MP's prompting them on the latest "dirt" on their opponents, and the phrases they shoud use in disparaging them with whatever they could dig up about various situations, faux pas, etc.

Brumby, in Victoria, has a "dirt file" on his opponent, Ted Baillieu. Which he is denying. This seems to be the way of things with the good old Labor Party.

There are ALWAYS two sides to every story! Just as there are with regard to Climate Change!
