Can't understand how a child of 8 would have been sent home from school to watch Neil Armstrong and the moon landing as it was televised in the afternoon and most working parents would have been at work.

Schools in the back blocks where I grew up had a TV to watch it on. It was a really big deal to huddle in the teacher's office to watch it. Then again I'm not a Crow-Eater so they might not have had a TV in South Australian schools back in those days.
