Not completely unexpected, the rumours have never stopped even though she has been saying she would stay on.

But is it calculated, leaving it to so close to the next election doesn't give the new candidate much time, even though Curtin is a safe liberal seat.

Other point is that Bishop along with Turnbull were the liberal parties best fund raisers, I wonder how the coffers are looking?
