To me Julie Bishops voluntary move to the back bench is the signal that the Coalition is heading for a thrashing.

Polls showed Julie was the most highly regarded in the Liberal Party and it was only the minority of Far Right destabilisers who thought otherwise. That she has chosen step aside is an ominous indicator of the Coalitions prospects. That decision was only made during the day she participated in the City to Surf run and imo won’t yet be factored into the opinion polls.

Unfortunately for Morrison the coup has handed him a poison chalice that may well convert his leadership into one of the pied piper leading his Party over a cliff. The govt will be desperate and when that happens they tend to make erratic and irrational decisions which will be compounded by the bleating of those in marginal seats who can see their pay cheques disappearing in a few months.

A govt with a majority and in Turnbull a PM consistently more popular than the Opposition leader and it has been reduced by the snipers to junk status! Abbott now says the political assassinations will stop, however even if true it’s small comfort if the govt has already been irreparably damaged!
