So what does NOAA do when there are no temperature measurements or records for certain land and ocean areas? How does it measure temperature changes when there were no means of measuring temperature in the past but there is now for a given area? On the percentiles image, NOAA has managed to colour in almost the entire globe. How and where did it get all the data to do that?
There certainly seemed to be a lot warming in the 1930s!
