I am not overly familiar with PBT2 from 5+ years ago except to say (all from memory, which is a bit rusty) it was involved in failed clinical trials in part due to a failed dog study. Anyway, PBT2 showed potential in being able to make obsolete antibiotics work again. Rather than go through years of expensive research to develop new antibiotics, then years of clinical trials, a pharmaceutical company with experience in antibiotics could of got this drug to market cheaper and quicker than usual. With possible funding from the antimicrobial resistance fund (with $10 billion at its disposal) i might add. But, PBT2 is now gathering dust somewhere.
