regarding the Waverly dyke
as Nick Garling points out: when this dyke was being mined there was no access to nearby water and the ore would have been manually transported down the mountain (usually called a hill?) - how did they do it? wheelbarrows? seems too steep for horses, or a cable system with buckets, or a timber ore chute perhaps but no evidence of that.
so the ore must have been something special and in addition it almost certainly would have contained visible gold - meagre historical references and Nick's calculations of tonnage suggests about 1 oz/tonne
and the miners took a lot more from Waverly than previously realized suggesting that the miners were onto a good thing - visible gold
my comments are only for contemplation of the possibilities - don't take them seriously
