''The problem dream prognosticators have to live with it is they haven't got a clue''
we are not talking about prognosticators, - meaning those who predict FROM dreams
we are talking about something totally different -
we are discussing dreams which ARE predictive. There is no way to tell if a dream is predictive or not BEFORE events transpire - and only possible AFTER events transpire.
You are correct in that no one has a clue if a dream is predictive or not, until actual events. However - when events in physical reality DO happen and match perfectly with something that has been dreamt - AND bears zero relationship to anything in one's reality at the time of the dream -
this is an important and totally fascinating area.
It leads people to many things - often the first of which is - was this 'prediction' or 'causation'.
Then of course - all of these kinds of dreams are not the same - they come in several categories --------- 3 would be (and there are probably more)
Precognitive dreams which are dreamt before real events
What we call precognitive dreams which seem to take place at the actual time of the events - (very rare IMO)
Precogs. which seem to have special features - like alarms or warnings or messages that are particularly meaningful.
And, I'm sorry - your fascination with Jung is quite out of date re..
'
'Jung is the only person in recent history who can look at a string of dreams-- because one alone isn't going to give many answers--and by introducing archetypes and myths that resude in the Collective unconscious give the subject something to chew on.''And I'm also sorry --------
Quantum entanglement is well well well proven - if you need refs on that also - I can supply a tome of refs. Also - even Einstein recognised it's existence - but, put it in the too hard basket and coined the phrase 'spooky action at a distance' ------------- feel free to argue with Einstein and decades or repeatable and peer reviewed research if you will
firstly -
Several researchers have continued to investigate the meaning of dreams, including precognitive dreams, since Jung's work. Here are some notable examples:
1. Mark Solms, a neuroscientist and neuropsychoanalyst, developed a neurodynamic model of dream origination based on studies with brain-damaged patients. He refuted the hypothesis that dreams are meaningless neural activity and provided evidence for specific brain regions participating in dream events[4].
2. James A. Hall, Mary Ann Matoon, and Harry Wilmer have revisited and expanded upon Jung's epistemological contribution to dream interpretation, shedding new light on analytical psychology[2].
3. Alphonse Maeder, a close friend of Jung, focused on the prospective function of dreams. He proposed that dreams have a cathartic function and possess an unconscious prospective capacity, preparing solutions for conflicts and problems[2].
4. Malcolm Bessent participated in precognitive dream studies at the Maimonides Medical Center dream laboratory in Brooklyn in 1969. These studies showed that Bessent could foresee randomly created events of the next day with over 60% accuracy[8].
5. Alan Vaughan, one of the original Maimonides researchers, reported that out of 148 attempts with various participants, 111 (75%) were successful in activating psychic ability in dreams[8].
6. Patricia Garfield, a well-known dream expert, became intrigued with precognitive dreams and had her first major precognitive dream after discussing the topic with Alan Vaughan[8].
7. Contemporary cognitive and neuroscientific approaches to dream study have been developed by researchers such as Harry Hunt, William Domhoff, and Allan Hobson. These approaches both challenge and enrich Jung's dream theory and practice[6].
These researchers have continued to explore the meaning of dreams, including precognitive aspects, building upon and sometimes challenging Jung's original work in the field.
