Gees that's a bit rich. Do they offer to pay you while you are not working for your income...or just expect you to potentially ruin your business?
Alternatively will they provide a Secretary to handle any important matters while you are in Court and unavailable? That's what I'd be asking for.
I seriously can't see a self employed person being "forced" to down tools for an unknown period of time to act as a Juror...potentially losing thousands of dollars in income.
I got the "letter" one time and I just responded that I was self employed and the income I earned from my own personal exertion I relied on, and I also could not possibly be available to my customers for an unknown period of time.
I had no issue with an exemption being provided...
