As all are aware, a high gold price points to the Emperor's nudity. The poor thing for the Emperor is that only he thinks he is sucessfully conning anyone.
There will be one event somewhere (a non delivery) that will completely end the paper gold con. Then the Emperor will have not even transparent clothes... but no clothes - not even to his eye.
Of course, between now and this event, people with intelligence will indeed be scraping together every bit of gold that falls their way.
As I mentioned, the idiots overplayed their hand. Like in Cyprus they overplayed the con. Can any human on earth (aside from Skol and Timber) trust their bank deposits and paper gold.
How does the Emperor story end. I cannot remember. When it is discovered and all agree... 'mate, you aint got no clothes' then what happens.
