I was trawling through the Supreme Court download today and saw this one.

It's an awful lot to read so unless you are a keen follower of the legal system, don't bother.

The important thing is paragraph 1:

Preamble
1 There still manifests a perception in some members of the community that the laws of defamation do not apply to publications made over the internet. Consequently, there is a lingering misapprehension that anything at all can be posted concerning another person over the internet - no matter how defamatory or scandalous the uploaded material may be - and that the posted material will enjoy a complete immunity. That perception is wrong as these reasons for decision will illustrate.

I'm sure most posters on the EGO thread are aware of past skirmishes but I'm just posting this as a gentle reminder to read what you write several times before you click on POST, and then possibly choose not to click on POST.
