    Ok ... I'll bite.

Ucg syngas can be delivered to the gate for a powergen project at about half the cost of natural gas.

Turbines are already spec'd up by the likes of GE to run on syngas.

With the 50% cost differential, there is substantial margin to consider methanation to produce a gas completely equivalent to CSG or conventional gas at a cost advantage.

Horses for courses ... players like Woodside and others working the NW Shelf just want to export ... poor old WA has resticted access to its own gas ... hence companies like Cougar have a potential niche to fill suppyling syngas fuelled powergen to the the State that is essentially the antipodian Qatar.

With fexibility to produce liquids, methane for compression to LNG, ferilisers, powergen and a range of pharmaceuticals from coal that cannot at this stage be utilised by anything else.

UCG syngas and conventional gas from projects like the NW shelf are complementary within the one nation imo.

Having priced tenders for subcontracted services on NW shelf projects myself, develpment costs are two to three times that of developing projects on the eastern seaboard ... a substantial advantage for alternative gas projects like Gladstone LNG imo ... and a ucg methanation operation to supplement CSG supply.

    Just my thoughts.
