De difficulty faced here is mining ore on day shift only. Ya doesn’t mine ore on night shift, which makes feeding a hungry mill from an increasingly small hole a challenge. Open pit mining’s mostly two dimensional. And ya has spotters - de most important blokes in de pit - watching every bucket load. 777’s and a 200t machine. Blocking from blast hole samples don’t cut it. Ya gots to use RC grade control and even dat’s shaky. If the geos figure out a periodicity on the shoots, then the engineer’s got a chance of scheduling the thing. And always, a hungry mill in the background, unless ya can slow it down somewhat but then it’s a question of fixed costs against grade and productivity.
