What you're effectively saying is it's cheaper (or near to), to buy a new car each year, than bother maintaining it. What a load of rot. Insurance costs will go down, if you can't work out why then you really need to think about this harder.
Show me where I said it will get you to work 30 minutes early, or that it saves $50k/year. I said, and I believe you're being purposely ignorant on this point, that if there are not enough automated cars in the fleet available at peak hour to get you to work, leaving you with no choice but to shell out $50k for your own private car - if you're presented with an alternative to travel outside of peak hours at low cost, that will work for some people. Not everyone will need to travel during peak hour, with the right financial incentive many will find a way around it.
