Another possibility is that the friendly brokers/bankers/fund managers have sold their TLW scrip at the same time as buying up HDR. I have seen this type of market action with options a number of times, where the fundies buy scrip to drive up the price of "soon to expire" options while trading out of the options. Then much closer to the exercise date sell the scrip to drive down the price of the FPOs and buy up the oppies at a lower price, then convert, so ultimately their holding remains as it was before the play.
Maybe the brokers/banker/fundies see good upside in TLW, and this situation gives them the chance of keeping a lid on the TLW price while keeping exposure via the conversion. Once they depart teh market the TLW price rises on its fundamentals.
