LONDON -(Dow Jones)- U.S. oil major Chevron Corp. (CVX) Monday said it has shut 100,000 barrels a day of oil production in Nigeria after a militant attack Sunday, dealing a big blow to the country's ailing production as militants step up their assaults against foreign oil companies' operations.
Chevron, in a statement to Dow Jones Newswires, said the attack occurred on a pipeline it operates in the Abiteye area of Delta State, one of the country's main oil-producing regions.
