just how big can an iron ore mine get

  1. 667 Posts.
The massive Mt Whaleback mine at Newman, established in 1968, is the largest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world being more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide, and almost a kilometre deep in some places.

What does this have to do with FRS?

If you go back in history to 1957, Mt Whaleback also began from humble beginnings.

FRS have 100% rights to a very large area with some high quality dirt, a couple of significant (JORC) discoveries under their belt, several exciting deposits we are awaiting results on, a highly credentialed team driving these outcomes, and recent major shareholding from a NOT so small Chinese mining investor.

Irrespective if the tenements of FRS turns out to become another Mt Whaleback or not, and probability would indicate they wont ...however it is an exciting prospect nonetheless and I will certainly enjoy sitting back and watching their story unfold over time.

In the meantime, the link below illustrates just how BIG an Iron Ore mine can get if you have found the right dirt?
