Maybe it's worth looking at the history of (probably) the closest technological advancement to our own to get a better understanding of just how big this is.

Our story appears to be progressing along the same lines as the development of a similar metal affinity "glue" invented in 1975 by Porath and coworkers, which was initially used for purifying polyhistidine tagged proteins, and later adapted for many other uses. This invention at the time, much like our own, was huge as it challenged the standard technologies and provided a superior platform. It was clearly an all round better method to the standard approaches.

However, for around a 20 year period there was bugger-all seen of it, with seemingly very little growth. But in reality, if you lifted up the covers and had an intimate gaze upon the inner workings, you would see hundreds of 3rd party researchers slogging away slowly and performing vital research that would make the glue a global success.

So around 20-25 years in, something clicked. And the uptake of the glue by the industry grew exponentially and in a short time-frame, most labs in the world would have known about the tech. And if you look around now, close to every lab in the field uses it. It is now ingrained into standard universal protocol. Just as a loose example, in our lab we use it for about 95% of the (non-antibody) proteins purified, it is invaluable. It's also used on plates, beads, biosensors and other things... This field is now monstrous, I'd estimate the products coated with this glue generating revenues in at least hundreds of $millions, likely $b's (but would appreciate an accurate figure if anyone knows).

Right now I believe we are seeing the same pattern of history repeating itself with Anteos Mix&Go technology. Same type of technological breakthrough and shift towards making metal affinity binding standard, but this time we are in markets that will expand to be orders of magnitudes larger than the previously invention.

All IMO, dyor. Not financial advice.
