Thanks for references. It's quite clear where the secret drone base is. Not a day trip. You do an all day car trip from Jed to taif & Abha. Keep going for about 5o miles past the 9000 ft mountains & out into the flat high desert to the next Town. Lots of stargate Egyptian temple like secret underground entrances to make things look inconspicuous- shape dictated by terra forming needs. Monkey Mountain on the edge of the escarpment. you wouldn't guess 1000's people worked here if you were taking the camel for a stroll.
. Then it's another couple hundred k's out towards the real desert to Shorourah.Next go 4ook into the hell of the Rub al Khali & you reach drone hangar central . But it's truly hell on earth they say. But very close to North West Frontier Province. what a pity Errol Flynn & Gunga Din didn/t have such things or the Raj might have lasted a bit longer. There are well watered oases in the desert with cool drinking water , massive fruit trees, veges etc. But they don't run around in shorts in the middle of the days like crazy Ozzies, Lovely part of the world if you're a sheikh with a palace on top of a 6000 foot cliff edge looking down on the rest of the world. Never got to see the other secret citiies on the Syrian Iraqi side which were pretty hush hush in pretty orrible country. Makes Port Augusta look like Margate- on -Sea.
To be slightly on topic:The aussie head of Rio Tinto said there's gold in them thar saudi hills- many years ago- & ther're discreet refs to modern mining cos being allowed to work in saudi now.
