Unless the government specifically says they are removing any rebate it will stay.
The rebate was to get the load of Medicare so I don't see any government removing anything that will put millions back on Medicare. Imagine that huh waiting times will be in decades for surgery. No government will pull that on because the opposition will get elected.
Personally I don't see why they don't just raise the Medicare levy to a level where private health is unnecessary, it would only take 0.25% or 0.5% rise in the Medicare levy and private health would be obsolete.
That is not going to happen either, imagine the unemployment. The government probably gets the 30% rebate back in taxes on the private medical providers and the employees.
