Near half of this stimulus package is about answering the critics who before this crisis unfolded said Rudd had forgotten pensioners and carers.
Labor have now delivered what was called for by various groups. Most importantly for Rudd though, this was done so on their own terms by using the financial crisis as a forcing point, not the public and political pressure which they had done very well at holding up against.
