I have a friend who bought under 1.6c. If you hit a great gain, taking money off the table is not silly and there may be other things to are also looking at or your looking to spread your risk if you are heavily weighted one way. Could be any number of reasons, or you don't believe in the stock or don't want funds tied up until production. For example, if I got a big win, I would go and wipe out my mortage and clear 60% of my cash flow.....then more money to invest.
