your orignial premise that russia stopped Britain from enterring the ar was flase because ;
1. Britain had nio intention of getting involved - they hated slavery and wished to see it stopped !
2. the russian navy were a joke and the brits could've easily dealt with them if needed
3. IT WAS A LAND WAR anyway
