re: just went short again- aurelius1 there are a few negatives with ig
1. brokerage is higher at $25 vs $10 for cmc (min), can make a difference when scalping
2. the platform is no where near as good as cmc which is why i kept cmc as a backup
3. margin is higher. 10% on indexs vs 1% on cmc and stocks are 10% min.
i dont use cfd's for indexes so i'm not sure what ig bases aus 200 on. probably the cash during market hours and sycom when market is closed.
fills are based on the real market and some top stocks are auto fill (1 second). ig doesn't requote which i dont like because if the stock is moving fast i prefer to get the option to take the higher price so you have to re enter the order and hope it works the second time. those extra few seconds can make the difference taking a trade or not. same goes if the stock is tanking and you have to keep having to re enter the order hoping they accept it.
this is mainly on the low liquidity stocks where they validate volume. the top stocks are all instant.
one major bonus with ig vs cmc is being able to trade the auction. so many times with cmc i'd have a stock that popped in the auction but unable to exit only to see it fall back at open the next day.
