just wondering about cats....

Our new addition, Miss Milly, has settled in to our house after 1 month, and is very happy, and content. Last week, Mr Spudnick and I let her have 1 hour of supervised outside time. This went well, so for the last few days, we have let her have an hour a day. Yesterday, during this time, she went up on the roof, and into the neighbours yard, {she was too quick for me to grab her}. I freaked out, went to the neighbours, they weren't home, so I went back home and waited 10 minutes, then called her again, and she came running back. Not sure whether to let her out today for half an hour? She is microchipped, and wearing ID tags. I really want her to be an inside/outside cat, but wonder, being a shelter cat, she needs a little more time inside...or am I being too protective?
