They're quite similar to the Christians and Jews really. Fundamentalist interpretations of any of the religions of "The Book" will always bring about distance -and that's what Justice Kirby is all about. Narrow that distance. Talk, exchange ideas, get rid of the maniacs among you.

Our friends and we were at a meeting of candidates last night. All five candidates were there: ALP, Lib, Dems, Greens and Family First. They all spoke for (I think) five minutes each and then we were allowed to ask questions of each of them. Mrs At, me and others asked the Family First chappy (who kept rabbitting on about "Christian values" and "family") whether his definition of family included single-sex couples, single mothers, divorcees, etc and whether these couples had any rights under their policies. And what were their views on abortion. The answers were straight chapter-and-verse from the Bible. You can imagine what they would be... I'd reckon the same as would a candidate of an Islamic or a Jewish Orthodox religion Party. Yet, the Christians believe they own virtue and morality!

If the Christians won't talk to the others then the others won't talk with them; and all of them, instead of working harder at it, will be using the easy way out and the same excuse. "They don't listen!"

Kirby, briter, is saying -so far as I can tell- "stop the finger pointing and start talking meaningfully."
