you are seeking logic on a matter which appears to be driven by emotion and belief. Of course if he thought trump was a show in it wouldn’t bother him if it waited till after the election. Or if he’ll didn’t think the law was indeed open to interpretation- because the way laws are drafted before being passed and the horse trading that they indulge in not compromise the meaning/ it would matter much less what the persuasion of the judge actually is.
this is not and never has been, and is particularly not now about law and good practice. It is shameless politics. It is about rigid, reactionary and religious conservatism. It is about power and dominance.
