Generally speaking this whole sector got smashed last year. Regardless of comodity. Large or small. Even producers with healthy profit margins or explorers with excellent assets with future upside etc.
Many overseas commentators were astounded at the negative sentiment and potential bargains/investment opportunities available in the Australian resource (particularly gold) sector... Many undervalued companies. I guess time will tell.
