The Minerals Council of Australia Conference is on this morning and ABC has some advanced knowledge of what Resources Minister Madeleine King and other speakers will be saying. Taken in the context of the BSX story which is playing out in Vietnam (ASM too, they were in the photo with our Lon Taranaki above at the KPMG workshop in Vietnam last week) the Resources Ministers words appear very bullish IMO:
Resources Minister Madeleine King will issue a challenge to miners that there is no time to lose in meeting allies' growing demand for critical minerals used in renewables and weapons.
"We need to do more to ensure our partners lean into efforts to strengthen and support our critical minerals and rare earths sectors," Ms King will say. "But Australia's credibility and ability to make such requests depends on us taking up responsibility to lead on critical minerals and rare earth elements globally".
The USA has a shortage of IRA compliant nickel now because of the Australian nickel industry shutdown and this must be the source of the Resource Minister's concern for our credibility. "Taking the responsibility to lead on critical minerals and rare earths globally" may well be an indication of the Governments intentions in Vietnam as she just returned from the KPMG workshop on those very things right there with Lon and ASM.
