Without the Ambassador acting as liaison between Governments and businesses, offering guarantees and assistance there is little chance a deal could be made, most of the diplomatic work an Ambassador does is behind closed doors and we may not get to know about it all however there is a clue in the name of the Department he works for, it is the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Agreements often must be made between Governments before trade can be facilitated and it requires deft diplomacy.
