    1:1 .........and GOD was the Word...................not Jesus.

    John was to first clear the way for Yahweh and that is done in the first 13 verses of John, before the Sudden appearance, mention of Jesus at 14.

    Mal 3:1 - Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith Yahweh of hosts.
    ---------
    John 1:3 - All things were made through him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
    Psa 33:6 By the word of Yahweh were the heavens made and all the hosts of them by the breath of HIS MOUTH.
    Gen.......and God said, and God said and God said etc.
    Isa 44:24 - Thus saith Yahweh, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I Yahweh that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

    The above clearly rules Jesus out of the picture in John 1:3.
    -------------
    John 1:4 In Him (God) life was and that life was the light of men...........(Psa 119:105 shows us this light is the word of God and well and truly in the world before the appearance of Jesus).

    In him was life = In His word..................hence in John 1:1.........and the Word was with (in) God.
    If the word is in you, it is clearly you, part of you...................and God was the Word.
    1 Peter 1:23 - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

    Jesus speaking the words of the Father says, they are Spirit and life and they are words of eternal life John 6:63 & 68.
    ------------------
    By Jesus being raised via God and given the words of God, it gave him;
    John 6:25 - For as the Father has life in himself (John 1:4) so has he given to the Son to have life in himself.
    Hence, this word was with God before it was given to Jesus.
    --------------
    1:1 - In beginning was the Word..... (Greek);

    Example -> Titus 1:2 - In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
    2 Tim 1:9 - Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

    John 1:14 - And the Word -> In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; -> flesh became.......
    -------------------
    Ex 30:44 - Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle.

    1:14 - And the Word flesh became and Tabernacled in (among) us and we beheld the Glory of Him, a glory as only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

    The glory being referred to here = the word of God, words of eternal life John 6:63.

    Not only do we have Jesus on the scene, but Yahweh God as well (AND GOD WAS THE WORD), dwelling in the Temple -> Jesus.
    Effectively Ex 30:44 repeating (Glory).

    John 14:10 - Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. (Acts 2:22).

    Jesus set the stage;
    2 Cor 6:16 - And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
