Trump signed a conditions-based deal with the Taliban. It was contingent on a prisoner swap for Afghan troops, no more violence, lifting of sanctions, promise not to host Al Queda, open peace negotiations with the Afghan Govt.
Even though the Taliban refused to deal with the govt in Doha, they agreed to open talks on May 10 when the US agreed to withdraw. And to get the govt to agree Trump guaranteed ongoing military support.
Well the Taliban soon reneged with continued terror attacks and thus the deal was off. Yet the govt still held power due to continued US air support suppressing the Taliban. Which Biden subsequently and cravenly withdrew, ensuring their quick collapse. Game over.
