Following the EPA public review, Lynas (in consultation with the EPA) is changing the location for by-product storage from the Kalgoorlie operations. Rather than awaiting a possibly lengthy approval process for the proposed Yarri-road site, by-product will be taken back to Mt Weld for storage (and potential further processing/development).
This is good news and should put a fire on the approval process. As far as I understand, the Yarri-road site is what has been slowing things down (due to native title determinations), while the processing site in principle has been approved already (as judged by approval for preliminary work, and previous EPA approval of the site for lithium processing).
Kind of makes me wonder why this wasn't the initial plan.. but to me it's good the plan changed to this.
