I have mentioned on these sites a few times before to beware of following resources based towns for the sake of the word resources and have by and large not received much response.

Regional towns with resource industries at this lateish stage of the cycle with some type of resource stocks really needs to be researched very very well. Kalgoorlie is your classic situation where things can die overnight.

Perth has also benefitted from the resource situation and despite all the immigration, investment it is very quiet to say the least. I also believe that Adelaide is well along the upswing which started 2 years ago, largely because it was undervalued anyway - but it will also need a cautionary look. May be very wrong on this but any investor looking at resource based capital cities and regional areas would do themselves a huge favour by studying what has happened in WA.
